FREQUENTLY ASKED Q'S
WATER WATCH
WHAT IS WATER WATCH?
Water Watch is a device designed to detect and alert you to the presence of water in your diesel fuel system, helping to prevent engine damage caused by water contamination.
HOW DOES WATER WATCH WORK?
The Water Watch system effectively separates free water from the fuel and promptly alerts the driver through visual and audible signals when water is detected. Notably, the alarm activates upon accumulating just 5ml (1 teaspoon) of water, enabling the driver to address the issue before any harm occurs.
WHY IS WATER BAD?
Dependent on the volume of contamination, water can cause immediate or prolonged damage to your fuel system. Water reduces lubricity and causes fuel components to wear, corrode, and rust from inside the fuel system. Subsequently, creating a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi, resulting in a dirty sludge.
HOW DOES WATER GET IN DIESEL?
It can happen several ways:
- Fuel transfer from one tank to another like a tanker at a service station where the fuel can mix with air and water
- Condensation
- Seepage from groundwater
- Storage tank leak
- Wet weather
WILL IT VOID MY WARRANTY?
Water Watch creates no suction restriction or increase in cavitation and is installed before the factory fuel filter, so it will have no negative impact on the vehicle and won't cause failure. Like all thing warranty, the manufacturer needs to prove it was the direct cause of the failure.
HOW LONG DOES INSTALLATION TAKE?
Most installations take 2–3 hours with basic mechanical knowledge. Full instructions and all mounting hardware are included. Our support team is available to answer any fitment questions.
FUEL ADDITIVE
WHAT IS RESPONSIVE FUEL ADDITIVE?
Responsive Fuel Additive lubricates moving parts and provides anti-corrosion protection for diesel fuel pumps, injectors, and all fuel system components. It includes an anti-bacterial biocide and does not contain hygroscopic dispersants, which are found in many major fuel additives. These dispersants allow water to bypass filters and detection units, leading to potentially catastrophic damage.
WHAT IS THE DOSE RATE?
Simply add 10ml of Responsive Fuel Additive per 80L of diesel or at a ratio of 1:8000 every second re-fuel or every re-fuel when towing
SHOULD I DOSE EVERY TANK?
Initially, dose the first two tanks and then every second for preventative maintenance.
WHAT IF I'M TOWING
When under load, dose every tank due to the increase in fuel pressure which causes fuel temperature rise. As a result, the high pressure parts expand causing the diesel to begin to boil and return to its original state of bituminous.
DESIGNED FOR ALL DIESEL VEHICLES?
Its specifically formulated for common rail but all diesel vehicles benefit from using it to increase lubrication.
IS IT DPF COMPATIBLE?
Yes, suitable for vehicles with a DPF.
DOES IT MIX WITH WATER?
No it doesn't. Introducing water into a common rail diesel systems will only cause issues and the two should always remain separate. A product that blends with water and enters the fuel system goes against what we stand for, especially our Water Watch.
DOES IT WORK WITH OTHER ADDITIVES?
It's not something we've tested. We'd recommend using what you have left so you don't waste your money and then start using our additive.
DOESN'T PREMIUM DIESEL DO THE SAME?
Premium diesel contains nothing more than a glide additive and an anti-foaming agent. Yes it'll provide some lubrication to reduce metal on metal contact but its near negligible.
DIESEL FILL
CONSEQUENCE OF MISFUELLING?
Petrol and AdBlue act like solvents and strip the lubricant from the diesel. This can cause permanent damage and costly repairs to the fuel injection system and potentially the engine.
WILL MISFUELLING HAPPEN TO ME?
If we had a dollar for every time someone said that, we wouldn’t need to sell this product. But in all seriousness, its a lapse in concentration at the fuel pump and it happens to the best of us. You might have a mix of petrol and diesel vehicles at home or the workplace, the fuel bowsers aren't properly identified, the kids are mucking up in the car etc.
WHAT TO DO IF I MISFUEL?
If you do mistakenly introduce petrol or AdBlue into your vehicle DO NOT turn the ignition on. Move your vehicle to a safe location and have the fuel tank drained by a professional. You will then need to have the fuel tank and fuel lines flushed and the fuel filter changed.
HOW COSTLY IS THE REPAIR?
If you realise before starting the vehicle then the cost is likely to be minimal. However, if you realise after starting and driving the vehicle, it could result in high repair costs such as an entirely new fuel system or worse case an engine.
WHAT IF I START MY VEHCILE?
If you realise after you have started your vehicle, the petrol and/or AdBlue has now circulated through the fuel system. You should stop your vehicle in a safe location immediately and call road side assistance.
