What is the consequence of misfuelling?
Petrol and AdBlue act like solvents and strip the lubricant from the diesel. This can cause permanent damage and costly repairs to the fuel injection system and potentially the engine.
Will misfuelling happen to me?
If we had a dollar for every time someone said that, we wouldn’t need to sell this product but in all seriousness its a lapse in concentration at the fuel pump and it happens to the best of us. You might have a mix of petrol and diesel vehicles at home or the workplace, the fuel bowsers aren't properly identified, the kids are mucking up in the car etc.
What to do if you misfuel?
If you do mistakenly introduce petrol or AdBlue into your vehicle DO NOT turn the ignition on. Move you vehicle to a safe location and have the fuel tank drained by a professional. You will then need to have the fuel tank and fuel lines flushed and the fuel filter changed.
How costly is the repair?
If you realise before starting the vehicle then the cost is likely to be minimal. However, if you realise after starting and driving the vehicle, it could result in high repair costs such as an entirely new fuel system or worse case an engine.
What if I've started my vehicle?
If you realise after you have started your vehicle, the petrol and/or AdBlue has now circulated through the fuel system. You should stop your vehicle in a safe location immediately and call road side assistance.
